The EU began to import grain in the intervention fund
During the first week of state purchases of grain in the intervention fund in Europe did the first million tons of grain. Greatest interest to the intervention showed the country, where the grain is sold at prices below the intervention.
From 2 to 8 November in the State Fund has received 95,834 tons of wheat and 852,981 tons of barley. Largest volume of barley gave Germany and France. State buys barley price 101.77 per metric ton, and in some European countries it was lower than proposed.
Procurement in the intervention fund will run until June 30, 2010, and during that time will be purchased from 4 to 6 million tons of grain.
Most recently, in some European countries, there were outbreaks of discontent among farmers when the value of their grain on the market fell below production costs. Government intervention in this context, they become profitable market instruments.
